The film is a spin-off of the lead actor Vadivelu’s character named Naai Sekar in director Suraj’s 2006 Tamil action crime film Thalai Nagaram.It is produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under his banner Lyca Productions. He produced India’s most expensive film 2.0, which was made with a huge budget of Rs. 500-570 Crore.
It starred Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar, and Amy Jackson in lead roles. The film turned out to be a massive hit and became the second highest-grossing film in India.
If we talk about technical work, the editing work is handled by Selva R.K. in this upcoming film while it has music and background score by Santhosh Narayanan.

CONTROVERSY REGARDING THE FILM
Earlier, Vadivelu planned the movie as Naai Shekar with director Suraj, as it was the character he played in Thalai Nagaram (2006).
Meanwhile, the title was already registered by production house AGS Entertainment for their next movie, written and directed by Kishore Rajkumar, starring actors Sathish and Pavithra Lakshmi.
Despite having many discussions, AGS Entertainment still didn’t change the title for their upcoming movie, which has already been released on January 13, 2022, with the same title (Naai Shekar).
So, the makers of the upcoming movie had to change the title from Naai Sekar to Naai Sekar Returns.
On December 10, 2021, the makers released a one-minute-long motion, which features Vadivelu wearing colorful trousers and a shirt while riding a bike with dogs in a sidecar and escaping the bullets being shot at him.
